Masjid Jamek - The Historical Gateway to Kuala Lumpur

This tour will bring you into the significance and the history of Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad in reference with the history and the birth place of Kuala Lumpur. We will walk through the time of the early settlers of a sleepy agricultural village, until the boom of the tin industry and how Kuala Lumpur gets its name. You will also discover how the different communities settled down around “Kuala Lumpur”, the muddy confluence.

The tour will also highlight the rich architectural mosque heritage that can be found in Malaysia. Being the focal point of the Maritime spice route, this land has acquired a very rich Islamic architectural heritage be it from Arabia, India as well as China. And that has produced a very unique South East Asian style of a mosque architecture.

If the outer image of a mosque could differ from one mosque to another, the inner part of a mosque would often have similar features, while going through these features, you will discover their functional and practical aspects.
